About

Three Schools. One Team.

PCEP Canton United Alpine Ski Boosters, Inc. is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit behind the varsity alpine ski team for Plymouth, Canton, and Salem High Schools.

Mission

Why We Exist

We exist so that any student at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park can race alpine skiing — regardless of whether their family has skied before, and regardless of what they can afford. The booster club funds the parts of a season that would otherwise fall to individual families, and runs the volunteer effort that makes race nights happen at all.

Athletes come from all three high schools and race as one team. That is unusual, and it is the point.

Our story

Founded 2023

The club was founded in 2023 to support a combined varsity alpine team drawing from Plymouth Wildcats, Canton Cobras, and Salem Rocks. The team trains and races at Mt. Brighton.

  1. 2023–24 · Season one

The inaugural season. Canton entered full boys and girls squads at the MHSAA Division 1 Region 3 Championship and finished last in both fields — but Sophia Shingles took 2nd in slalom and 5th in giant slalom to become the program's first State Finals qualifier, placing 24th in slalom at the Finals.

  2. 2024–25 · The breakthrough

The girls placed 3rd at the MBHSSA league championship, then took 3rd at Regionals to seize the final team-qualifying place by 9.5 points. Rhiana Savoie won the Region 3 giant slalom title. At the State Finals the girls finished 7th in Michigan, and Savoie's 9th in GS earned first-team all-state. Seven Canton athletes competed at that Finals.

  3. 2025–26 · Reload

With two front-runners graduated, a young roster — one senior and four freshmen — sent three athletes to the State Finals. The boys improved at every level, finishing 6th of 12 at Regionals, the program's best boys regional result.

Three seasons in, Canton United has sent at least one athlete to the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals in every season of its existence. Full results are on the Schedule & Results page.

Where we race

Four Competitions

A Canton season takes in four distinct competitions. They share venues and get blurred together, but they are separate events in separate weeks.

MBHSSA

The Mt. Brighton High School Ski Association — our regular season, raced Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Mt. Brighton, ending with the league championship in early February. It is administered as the Mt. Brighton Division of SEMSL.

KLAA

The Kensington Lakes Activities Association is Canton's school athletic conference, and holds its own championship race — separate from both the league championship and the MHSAA postseason.

MHSAA

The state governing body. We compete in Division 1, Region 3. The regional venue rotates — Alpine Valley in 2024 and 2026, Mt. Brighton in 2025. Qualifiers advance to the State Finals.

SEMSL

The Southeastern Michigan Ski League hosts a standalone qualification-only championship. It is not our regular-season league, though MBHSSA sits within SEMSL's divisional structure.
